John Dos Passos, author of the U.S.A. trilogy and many other works, first visited Key West in the 1920s and told his friend Ernest Hemingway about the place. During the winter of 1934, Dos Passos and his wife lived in this house at 1401 Pine St., then the outskirts of town.

We offer limited financial assistance for new and emerging writers for either session of the Seminar and for the writers' workshop program. This year we are especially interested in supporting writers of historical fiction. Details.
Financial Assistance for Teachers & Librarians
Teachers and librarians hold a special place in the heart of the Seminar. We recognize that without you, there would probably be very few readers, indeed. We also realize that Key West in January is not an inexpensive destination, especially for those on a teacher's salary. We are most pleased that through the generous support of Judy Blume/Kids Fund we are able to offer limited financial assistance for librarians and teachers to attend either Seminar session. Details.
